With the bad weather forecast for this afternoon, we have brought the ANZAC Assembly forward to 12 noon today, and any families that wish to take their children for the end of term at 12.30pm are very welcome to do so. This will also allow staff who travel to make their way home before the forecast winds etc really pick up. For those working or preferring to have children at school until 3pm, this is fine too, and all remaining children will be supervised until normal pickups or bus runs leave. Have a safe and happy Easter and holidays everyone.
Yet again we are confronted with wet weather on a Wednesday afternoon. The College have discussed the situation and decided to CANCEL the ENTIRE competition. This means there will be NO games this week or next week. We will be in touch with details of refunding families due to missing so many games. Thanks so much to all the coaches who have supported the school and children with touch this term, and to all the parents who supported their children to be part of the touch module. A shame the weather wasn’t as helpful as you all!
Wendy Pond has provided the following link to an article written about her family’s association with Hinuera School. Thanks Wendy.
The Pond family sent four generations of children to Hinuera School during the years 1918-2013. An illustrated account is at http://alexanderpondarchive.leonbarton.net/hps.html
Unfortunately due to the bad weather, Touch Rugby has been cancelled this afternoon.
A reminder that our first parent/teacher interviews of the year are next Wednesday. Anyone that has not yet booked will need to log on to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter our school code ubnwe. If any families/whanau are able to collect their children from 12.30pm next Wednesday to allow these important interviews to take place it would be much appreciated.
Happy New Year! Here are the 2017 lists if you are still needing these.
If working with children on shot put technique this link is a good place to start
The thoughts of the Hinuera School community are with those in the south who have been impacted by the earthquakes today. Although the quake was felt in the Hinuera area, our school is unaffected, and school continues as normal for us. Thanks everyone.
There is now a 125th Anniversary tab available on this website (far right tab) where people can register for the Wine and Cheese evening on Friday 31st March 2017, or the Lunch and Get Together on Saturday 1st April 2017, or both! The Registration Form is at the bottom of the page, below the information. There is no charge or need to register for the school based events that are happening during the day on the Friday.
Hinuera School 125th Anniversary
Hinuera School will be 125 years old next year! There will be school celebrations on Friday 31st March 2017.
We are also looking at the option of adding other events, but we need to know if they would be supported. This could include a Wine and Cheese Evening on the Friday, and a Lunch/Afternoon Tea on Saturday 1st April. The Saturday would include opportunities to visit classes, catch up with those there, speeches, viewing school memorabilia/photos on display, and photos of groups of those present. If you are keen to support either or both of these options, we ask that you email email@example.com by Monday 5th September. Just type in your name/s, and what you are keen on:
“Wine and Cheese”
And send through to us. That way we will be able to gauge interest in adding these events. Responding via email means we will have easy contact established with all those interested.
Please share this request with anyone connected to the school that may wish to register their interest. Anyone not able to email is welcome to phone the school office on 078881772 and the office team will load it for you. Many thanks.
