Welcome to Hinuera School!

Since 1892 Hinuera School has been the heart of our rural community, nurturing generations of “Hinni Kids” and building a proud reputation for rich, future-focused learning.

Our Vision

“Te tipu me tō akona – Learning and Growing.”
Everything we do is driven by the belief that every child can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally when learning is purposeful, inclusive, and inspiring.

Our Vision

Our Values – The 3 Rs

Whakaute/Respect • Aumangea/Resilience • Haepapa/Responsibility

These guiding principles shape daily life at Hinuera and prepare our learners to “be the best they can be” long after they leave our gates.

Why families choose Hinuera:

  • Personalised teaching: Small class sizes (Years 0-6) mean every learner’s progress is known and celebrated.
  • Expert staff: Highly capable teachers deliver structured, aspirational programmes aligned with Te Mātaiaho, focusing on each child’s next steps.
  • Expansive grounds & modern facilities: Two playgrounds, swimming pool, turfed court, refurbished classrooms, and spacious green fields invite active play and exploration.
  • Vibrant culture: Strong relationships, an energetic PTA, and wide-ranging extracurricular opportunities enrich school life.
  • Easy access: Located at 636 Hinuera Road (SH 29), 10 minutes from Matamata, with government-funded buses and convenient parent drop-off.

Come and see the difference:
We’re proud of our heritage and excited about the future we’re crafting for today’s Hinni Kids. Book a visit, meet our team, and discover how your child can thrive—learning and growing—at Hinuera School.

Bus Notice
3 Feb 2026

Kia ora whānau,

We had a fantastic visit today from Constable Tash, who spoke with our bus students about staying safe on their journeys. Our Hinni Kids did us proud—they already have a great handle on the rules and showed excellent respect during the session.

To keep everyone safe, here is a quick refresher of our bus expectations:

High-Vis: Every child must wear a high-vis vest to and from school.
Stay Seated: Students must remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
Food & Drink: No eating or drinking unless specifically approved by the driver.
The "Two Pole" Rule: When exiting, wait until the bus is two power poles away before attempting to cross the road.
Inside Voices: No shouting or loud noises that might distract the driver.
Important Reminders:

Registrations: If your child needs to use the bus, please alert the office immediately so we can update the Matamata bus network controller.
Queries: Mrs. Williams is our lead kaiako for bus transport. If you have questions or concerns regarding behaviour on the bus, please contact the school office directly so we can follow the correct procedures.
Let’s work together to ensure every Hinni Kid gets to school and home safely every day!

Ngā mihi nui.
